As you might have read on Twitter or Facebook or from the blog’s sidebar, MonoPhix is one of the apps participating in the Mobile Photo Awards. This basically means that you can edit (or shoot) a picture with MonoPhix or a combination of MonoPhix and other apps and submit it to enter the competition. By submitting you get the chance to win amazing prizes and eventually see your pictures featured in an exposition. Of course we would be very honored and proud if a great iPhoneographer could win with a picture edited with MonoPhix. The entry fee is only 20$ for 3 images or 30$ for 5.
The deadline to enter is 30 November, so only 3 days left.
As you all know, the development of 36-image converter is almost at end with the Beta coming at the beginning of November. But that’s not the only thing that’s coming. We have started development for 36-image converter 5.0, which comes with a new engine, a new interface and a completely new set of features.
We are also going to renew all our iPhone apps. GrayPhix, FlashPhix and MonoPhix are getting an engine update to support all image formats, iPhix will hit version 2.0 with support for large resolution images, transformations, more effects and a new interface. iDuelpro and iDuelpro Lite will hit version 4.0. And iDuelpro for Mac OSX will hit iDuelpro 2010 and will be a direct port from the iPhone.
Maybe the biggest change will be that our site will be completely revamped and pushed to the edge of design and browser standards. Remember the old 3 year old site and its ads, frames and flaws as it will disappear somewhere next month. If you want to see how progress is coming along with the new site you can go to http://www.phoenxsoftware.com/mainsite_new/
After this everything will be as it should have been from the beginning, a 36-image converter with no flaws (except for flaws people are creating of course), a whole bunch of worthy iPhone apps, a Duelpro on each platform which takes a huge leap forward from many other yugioh LPC’s and a site which has the design our users are used to.
After this, the road is open for completely new apps and features.
A few weeks ago we first released a paid version of our yugioh LPC for iPhone, iDuelpro Mobile (v3.0) and now we already have a new update available. Dramatic updates always have drawbacks and receive a lot of criticism and hence some things had to be fixed and updated.
The “10.000” button is now removed and replaced by a button which pops-up a dialog to deal a custom amount of damage or to restore a custom amount of lifepoints, there is an undo button added to undo the last action as requested by some users and a button for direct kill combo’s or cards like exodia or destiny board.
If iDuelpro Mobile will keep on existing is still unclear, yesterday we had completely no sales and in the first two weeks Apple allowed thousands of people to update for free thus creating a potential loss of hundreds of dollars. We still have the cheapest full yu-gi-oh LPC available for the iPhone considering that any other LPC is 4,99$ or more, but since iDuelpro became paid people just don’t seem that interested.
After a long time we have released another update to iDuelpro Mobile, an iPhone OS version of Duelpro, the most used yu-gi-oh! tcg lifepoints calculator.
The new version contains an entirely revamped smooth black interface with toolbar. Also the custom input box to enter a number of lifepoints to operate with has been replaced completely by a series of buttons with predefined amounts. Also the useless card counter has been removed and the empty space is now filled by buttons to halve a player’s lifepoints and buttons to simulate coin flips and dice rolls. For the first time also an online help file has been added.
iDuelpro Mobile 3.0 will soon be available in the iTunes Application store for 0.99$. Yes, we have to charge a small amount for iDuelpro Mobile because we have to pay 99$ a year to Apple to be allowed to make Apps for the iPhone. So without this minor charge iDuelpro for iPhone and iPod Touch would be condemned.
We already gave an update round to LockPhix, SpeedShut, iDuelpro Mobile and Duelpro 2008, making the first two OpenSource and applying the Phoenxsoftware XOSL (Opensource License). Now we still need to do some more tools, including FileTorment, LoadDown, CachePhix and ROC. I will briefly explain the coming updates to these tools.
First of all, the next tool to be updated will be FileTorment. FileTorment 4 will be released under the XOSL-license and will feature context menu deletion, stronger wiping tools for active applications and registered dll’s and interface changes which will make FileTorment easier to operate in case of mass file deletion. If there is time left we will add bulk deletion options.
The second tool which will be updated is ROC. ROC 1.1 will fix the error at boot and will also be released as OpenROC. OpenROC will be released under the GNU public license. In that way if an incident like the one with the recently released LockPhix (where a version was released containing a trojan+breaking the icon/image license) occurs again we can use GNU to put pressure on villains. The GPL will also enable us to incorporate strong opensource encryption algoritms instead of the encryption algoritm in the proprietary version. By also supplying an opensource version we can make sure that hackers aren’t able to decode the server-datastreams of the proprietary version. Keep in mind that the use of GPL is a one time event and that we do not encourage such licenses which force people to take certain actions thus destroying the entire concept of freedom.
The third tool to be released is LoadDown 2.2 which will also be made OpenSource under the XOSL license and which will feature a new interface, new options to limit the uptime and increased help documents.
The last update will be CachePhix 2.0 which will be released under the XOSL license and will feature adjustable options and operating system recognition.
So this makes 6 opensource tools and decent improvements this year for all our small system tools.
I red a few comments on the current test release of iDuelpro Mobile for the iPhone and I learned a few things out of this. So I started the development for iDuelpro Mobile 2.0 and it’s already finished!
But don’t cheer too soon, it still has to be put online and this release process could suffer gigantic issues because, well the service Apple provides for iPhone developers just sucks.
You can expect the following improvements :
-Ability to add lifepoints
-Lifepoints bars to get a visual interpretation of a player’s lifepoints
-Quick keys to subtract amounts as 1000, 500 or 100
-Slightly altered interface
-Special page for Duelpro/iDuelpro/iDuelpro Mobile
So I hope you will enjoy this release if I ever succeed to release it into the App Store. It is expected to be released within the next 3 weeks.
EDIT (4th of January 09′ 00:05 (GMT+1)) :
I was able to upload the 2.0 version after struggling with the iPhone SDK and the iTunes uploader. I had to retry 20 times, but the result is there, V2.0 is in review and now it’s all in Apple’s hands…
