New App: iPhix for Mac – Create art with every snap. (Filter/adjust/share)

We are proud to release a product that has been in development for half a year now, iPhix for Mac. iPhix is an app that allows you to easily apply a multitude of filters or adjustments to pictures and share them online in a matter of seconds. It’s build to be easy and fun to use for everyone. iPhix provides enough power for professional photographers but can also be used by beginning photographers with almost no editing experience.

There are a huge number of adjustment possibilities present in iPhix. In the adjustments window you can change brightness, exposure, saturation, tone, contrast and apply posterization, cross processing, vignetting, grain, a tilt shift effect or blur to your pictures. All these adjustments can be combined to create magnificent effects. Examples of these are in the preset filters window.

The filters
iPhix currently contains 10 preset filters and one preset filter you can customize and save and 7 so called “solid” filters. This amount will increase with future updates. Preset filters are filters which control the adjustments mentioned earlier and are used to quickly apply vintage or flashy effects on pictures. You can always finetune a preset filter in the adjustments window. With the custom preset filter you can record and save a number of adjustments to create your own preset. The preset filters are called: Vivant, Deep Colors, Aged, Toned, Vintage, Mono, Noir, Expired, Daguerre, Sepia and Custom.

Solid filters are filters which are applied on the image and aren’t adjustable. Some solid filters can be adjusted in intensity though. These filters are much more invasive and transform your picture into a drawing for example. The solid filters are: Bizarre, Dots, Pop, Lithography, Edgy, Cutout and Inverse.

Sharing has never been faster with iPhix. Most people have their social networking apps or pages open at any time, so why bother people with a “Log in to Facebook to share this picture”-dialog?
What the iPhix sharing options does is upload your picture to our iPhix Cloud servers instantaneously and provide you with a short link to your picture an online iPhix picture frame. All you have to do is copy the link to TweetDeck, Twitter, Facebook, Mail or anywhere you want.

When opening a picture for adjusting you expect everything to stay the same, except for the things you change. Therefore iPhix remembers your EXIF data and saves it along with your adjusted image. Your lens, aperture, flash settings, camera type, … all will be saved. iPhix also cuts the process of selecting a save filetype for you, all files are saved in the same filetype as the one they were opened in. Additionally it restores corrupted image orientations to ensure that your picture is always the right way up.

Device requirements
iPhix for Mac should run on any Mac built after 2008 running Mac OSX 10.6 or Mac OSX 10.7. iPhix is tested on Lion and is also optimized for it. The executable is only about 12Mb in size. An internet connection is also required for the sharing options.

Pricing and Availability
iPhix 1.0 is currently $3.99 (USD) and available exclusively through the Mac App Store in the Photography or Productivity categories. Interested writers, reviewers and editors of recognized sites can always request a promo code to check it out for themselves.

36-image converter 4.6 status (p2)

Today we succeeded into resizing images of 2000×2000 which was an issue because the new engine has problems with the delay which is caused by these enormous images. <technical alert!>Short : When a large image is opened or saved you get a delay, but the cache save to make sure that the image can be reset is activated directly, but since the image is still opening it can’t detect any active image. So this causes errors and no resize. <technical alert!>

We discovered that by doing a soft reset afterwards, the image is successfully resized and saved. So now we have solved the error by doing a soft reset after a few seconds which displays the image directly. There are still some issues left to be solved. The values which keep track of any changes are incorrect, when doing a couple of resizes, it resizes the image completely wrong and of course there is an issue with the soft reset which causes a resized image not to be reset but to be actually resized. So we still have to fix these things but it seems they are related somehow and by resetting the values, the other bug should be fixed as well.

So no more technical stuff. 36-image converter 4.6 will be released next month with a slight delay when everything is fixed and all functions are properly working we will release a light stable and fully functioning 36IC 4.6 and this will also be the first time you will see the new interface. So you will not see the new interface in any beta theme extra as previously announced but you will have to wait for the final release which will have no beta period as always, it will be tested internally.

The designated website for 36-image converter will also be updated and completely changed. The new website will be online before the release of 36-image converter 4.6 and will also contain nightly builds of the main engine (without the new theme, just the main executable and other updated files).

Release : 36-image converter!

Today we are proud to release the 6th release on our way to Hummingbird (V5.0). 36IC4.4.6 has superiour tools to remove red eyes. The red eye removal tool does not damage other colors or shapes, is easy in use and can handle almost any form of red eyes. You can even recolor the eyes to a color you select instead of the conventional gray used in many other image editing applications.

A second point is that we are applying a new technology based on the color moziac tool to create new color/pixelwise filters. You have for example : Grayscale, inverse, RGB-shift and 3 forms of Pixelizing.

36-image converter 4.4 “Ninja” : The Pré-release presentation!

Finally you will find out how 36-image converter 4.4 looks, I’m going to keep my promise. Ninja will be released within the next couple of days with slight delay but you get the presentation now.

36-image converter 4.4 “Ninja” takes the base of 36-image converter 4.3 that was totally stripped down to the ground. So all tools and functions are completely rewritten and only a few formula’s are still the same. Our goal was to create a stable version of 36IC which meets the promises we made when releasing version 4. Now we have a good product and we can distribute it without having to worry about bugs and instabilities. Ninja has a lot of extra tools and functions. It finally has 36 input filetypes and 21 output filetypes. And the cherry on the pie is of course the new twilight-interface.

The new interface enables you to quickly change between tools and to fully control 36-image converter with your left mouse button. Everytime you toggle a menu, the state of the previous menu is saved because they are all handled separately.  The interface also enables you to view bigger images. And of course the interface is nice too, well see for yourself!

The most drastic change is in the conversion engine. You can now convert to 21 filetypes all delivered with the necessary information in the tooltips so that even your grandmother can learn about the use of different image filetypes. The output filetypes are : Jpeg (native), Jpeg (Advanced), Jpeg2000, BMP, DIB, GIF, PNG, JNG, ICO, CUR, TIF, TIFF, TGA, PCX, PBM, PPM, PGM, WMF, EMF, RAW, PII and RAWPII. Pii is the 36IC native filetype that provides you with easy encryption for images. Why have a Private-mode in a browser when you don’t have one in your image viewer.

Masks & effects
Explaining the changes in stability and easiness of tools and giving a screenshot of that is quite boring so why don’t I show off a few filters and frames.

Here the hearts frame is used and the Merge image with a merge image from the resources folder in the 36IC directory.

More functions, like the new dashboard 1.3 and the extension manager will be presented in the second part of our presentation. Because they are currently still under development.

36IC 4.4 Ninja will be released before thursday. check

UPDATE : 36-image converter 4.4 will be released tomorrow, currently we are writing the help file, but we have to redo some pages that we have already finished and port them to Windows because Mac OSX screwed up and made us save our help files over each other.
