Still some tools to be updated

We already gave an update round to LockPhix, SpeedShut, iDuelpro Mobile and Duelpro 2008, making the first two OpenSource and applying the Phoenxsoftware XOSL (Opensource License). Now we still need to do some more tools, including FileTorment, LoadDown, CachePhix and ROC. I will briefly explain the coming updates to these tools.

First of all, the next tool to be updated will be FileTorment. FileTorment 4 will be released under the XOSL-license and will feature context menu deletion, stronger wiping tools for active applications and registered dll’s and interface changes which will make FileTorment easier to operate in case of mass file deletion. If there is time left we will add bulk deletion options.

The second tool which will be updated is ROC. ROC 1.1 will fix the error at boot and will also be released as OpenROC. OpenROC will be released under the GNU public license. In that way if an incident like the one with the recently released LockPhix (where a version was released containing a trojan+breaking the icon/image license) occurs again we can use GNU to put pressure on villains. The GPL will also enable us to incorporate strong opensource encryption algoritms instead of the encryption algoritm in the proprietary version. By also supplying an opensource version we can make sure that hackers aren’t able to decode the server-datastreams of the proprietary version. Keep in mind that the use of GPL is a one time event and that we do not encourage such licenses which force people to take certain actions thus destroying the entire concept of freedom.

The third tool to be released is LoadDown 2.2 which will also be made OpenSource under the XOSL license and which will feature a new interface, new options to limit the uptime and increased help documents.

The last update will be CachePhix 2.0 which will be released under the XOSL license and will feature adjustable options and operating system recognition.

So this makes 6 opensource tools and decent improvements this year for all our small system tools.

Release : Duelpro 2008.2

Before the release of Duelpro 2009 we have released another 2008 release, Duelpro 2008.2 (4.2.2.11).

This new version has the same quick operation buttons as iDuelpro Mobile and fixes some other minor issues, it also has a contrast mode for people who were unable to view the light interface.

It has already been added to most sites including yugioh-world and Pojo. But you can find it here on our site : http://www.phoenxsoftware.com/duelpro2008.html

iDuelpro Mobile for iPhone and iPod Touch update

I red a few comments on the current test release of iDuelpro Mobile for the iPhone and I learned a few things out of this. So I started the development for iDuelpro Mobile 2.0 and it’s already finished!

But don’t cheer too soon, it still has to be put online and this release process could suffer gigantic issues because, well the service Apple provides for iPhone developers just sucks.

You can expect the following improvements :
-Ability to add lifepoints
-Lifepoints bars to get a visual interpretation of a player’s lifepoints
-Quick keys to subtract amounts as 1000, 500 or 100
-Slightly altered interface
-Special page for Duelpro/iDuelpro/iDuelpro Mobile

So I hope you will enjoy this release if I ever succeed to release it into the App Store. It is expected to be released within the next 3 weeks.

EDIT (4th of January 09′ 00:05 (GMT+1)) :
I was able to upload the 2.0 version after struggling with the iPhone SDK and the iTunes uploader. I had to retry 20 times, but the result is there, V2.0 is in review and now it’s all in Apple’s hands…

Happy 2009 + What’s new in 2009!

First of all, Phoenxsoftware wishes you all the very best for 2009. In 2008 we had  a total of 131.635 visitors and our software was downloaded +-150.000 times. All very interesting statistics, but now what’s for the future?

I have made a pdf for all project members with the new 2009 releases and I’ll give you a walkthrough :

1. 36-image converter 4.5 “Chameleon” (freeware):

Things may change but this is what we have planned for 2009, more about some releases later.

Duelpro 2009, a new chapter?

In a few days it will be 2009 and a new year means a new Duelpro.

Whilst iDuelpro covers most non Windows OS’s, Duelpro remains the dominant yugioh! lifepoints aid. So we have to take some care of it.

While browsing the web I discovered another lifepoints aid which is obviously bad programmed and is shareware. I wasn’t impressed but it put me thinking. Isn’t it fun to use a lot of technology and professional programmers/designers/marketeers and put them on a market that is filled with hobbyists and basic software?

So hereby we are actually going to invest time and money in the development of Duelpro 2009.

You can expect :
-New skinnable HD interface with technology taken from LockPhix’s SGL (Simple Graphics Layer) and theme-technology taken from the latest “in development” version of 36-image converter.
-Auto-update and netread technology taken from ROC that enables us to cooperate with renown yugioh sites to deliver instant info on cards, rules and news.
-Of course the Channeled Dashboard technology of 36-image converter.
-4-player support.
-Ability to save and track every game.
-A virtual AI opponent.
-Ability to store duel info and tactics taken from the LockPhix PasswordSafe technology.
-A server to upload results.
-And much more…

Duelpro and iDuelpro will also get their own site.

We already control 95% of the global yugioh lifepoint aid software market, but we are going for 100%!

You can expect Duelpro 2009, somewhere around March 2009, one year after the release of Duelpro 2008 (4.0.1).

iDuelpro Mobile 1.0 first Iphone Application!

We uploaded iDuelpro Mobile V1.0 for approval by Apple this evening. This means that soon you will be able to enjoy the yugioh tcg lifepoints aid Duelpro on your Iphone/Ipod Touch.

It was a long battle that took us through Xcode, the worst and less user friendly IDE on the earth, made us pay 99$ to be able to build applications for the Iphone, made us go through a trial and error configuration of Apple Developers certificates and identities. To give you an idea, the application was written in an hour. It took three days to configure everything to actually release iDuelpro Mobile and get it signed. One good thing came out of this. I was so tired of weeding around through configurations that I had to make iDuelpro Mobile freeware, otherwise I had to go through a paid applications membership or something like that…

So some good advice for Apple :
-Trash Xcode and go for a more Visual Studio style IDE
-Add error messages to it, so that developers can figure out what’s wrong
-Simplify the certification and signing process  a lot
-Update your online help
-If a file won’t upload tel the developer what’s wrong with it

I certainly want to thank all Discussion boards/helpdesks and independent tutorial writers for doing what Apple should do : Answer questions and give support!

You will be notified on this blog when iDuelpro Mobile is online.

iDuelpro Mobile Coming to Iphone!

The next step in our quest to develop for multiple platforms is the Iphone. With iDuelpro Mobile, Duelpro is coming to the Iphone. Don’t cheer too early, iDuelpro Mobile will be shareware and will probably cost from 0,50$ to 1,00$, because Apple is pillaging us with their certified Iphone developers program and it could be possible that if it doesn’t generate profit within the next year it will be offline once again.

iDuelpro Mobile will be submitted this weekend, more info then.

First Mac OSX application released : iDuelpro Widget 1.0!

We broke our bounds with Microsoft today by releasing the first application for Mac OSX, actually a DashBoard Widget : iDuelpro Widget 1.0. IDPRw is based on Duelpro 2008 for windows and is a lifepoints calculator for the yugioh! tcg. It does not have the same amount of functions because it is only a widget, but is still as useful as primitive versions of Duelpro and has basic functionality. It has already been uploaded to the Apple Widget Download pages and will be available for download this weekend. Our site hasn’t been updated yet because of Dreamweaver 8 problems.

This is only a first step. iDuelpro 2008 will follow as a full application for Mac OSX on intel PC’s and iDuelpro will probably be released for the Iphone as well.

It is our plan to release the following applications on Mac : Duelpro 2008, LockPhix, ROC, SpeedShut and LoadDown. New applications like the library variant of 36-image converter may follow.

Happy Birthday UIC Phoenxsoftware!

Today UIC Phoenxsoftware can blow out three candles as it was founded as Phoenixsoft on 21 October 2005.

Many things have changed since that wet day three years ago. We started as a freewebs website with only 5 visitors a day. Our software collection consisted of Duelpro 2005.5 the first Duelpro, Atom Disassembler a scientific tool to disassemble atoms into neutrons/protons and PhBrowser. We registered a .com domain after a few months and that was the beginning of UIC Phoenxsoftware. Our first releases then were Duelpro 2006.2 and 36-image converter 1.0.

Now those first releases have more than 500.000 users worldwide and are amongst the top in their category. The 5 visitors a day have evolved into 500 visitors a day over the past three years and our software collection now consists out of 12 applications SpeedShut, SpeedShut lite, 36-image converter, Duelpro, CachePhix, Mphix, LockPhix, FileTorment, PhBrowser, FileTorment Suite 2006/2007, InfoBlaster IN4 and LoadDown. They all contributed to the massive amount of visitors.

Now that we are at the dawn of a new era with new products as have been never seen before, we will totally refresh our strategy and once again develop in a way we like instead of working hard to finish a version every few days to maintain popularity for a public of users who are hardly satisfiable.

As a present to our users we will release add the License key of LockPhix to the LockPhix DashBoard, making it free.

You have enjoyed the last three years as well as we, let us enjoy the comings years even more!

Kind Regards to all our users,

Renzo Verleysen
Head Development and Administration
UIC Phoenxsoftware and iPhix Development

What are we up to?

What are we up to?
We released a new 36-image converter and everything has changed, you can download directly from our site, Duelpro 2008.1 was released totally expectantly . But this is not all, we are back on track after derailing for half a year, we are back at +10.000 visitors a month and to keep it like this, we are going to release new versions of nearly all our applications, starting with SpeedShut 4.0 which supports Windows Vista, is smaller and more stable and will enable you to set an unlimited shutdown delay. SPS4 will be released this weekend and will become OpenSource, since some antivirus applications consider it as malware and we would like to let eg. Avast and AVG make a total fool out of their selves when people see that SpeedShut is harmless.

The next release will be the one of FileTorment 3.1. Which includes context menu delete actions. FT3.1 should be released next Tuesday.

After FT3.1 we will release updates to LoadDown (stability update) (OpenSource), CachePhix (configuration options + Vista Compatibility),  FileTorment Suite 2006 (freeware), InfoBlaster IN4 (Freeware).

We can confirm for the first time that within a few months we’ll release Mac OSX software on the Java Platform. We will start with JavaMikado (Duelpro J2008) and then we will release a fully working SpeedShut for Mac, with even extra options. It could be possible that these applications will get Linux support as well or even cellphone support.

Prepare yourself for the biggest facelift in the history of UIC Phoenxsoftware!
